Conduct

All attendees, exhibitors, speakers, sponsors, and volunteers at Best of Bangladesh (“event”)  must agree to abide by this code of conduct (“Code of Conduct”), which organizers will enforce throughout the event. We expect everyone to work together to help ensure a safe environment for everyone.

Best of Bangladesh Code of Conduct

Best of Bangladesh is dedicated to providing a harassment-free learning experience for everyone, regardless of: 

  • Religion (or lack thereof)
  • Sexual orientation
  • Native language
  • Body size
  • Age
  • Technology choices
  • Gender identity
  • Expression
  • Disability
  • Nationality
  • Ethnicity
  • Life experiences
  • Race
  • Physical appearance
  • Other defining
  • Characteristics

We don’t tolerate harassment of any form. Sexual language and imagery is not appropriate for any event, including talks, workshops, meetups, parties, Twitter, and other online media.

Unacceptable Behavior

Unacceptable Behavior (“Unacceptable Behavior”) includes:

  • Engaging in lewd or offensive behavior or language, using sexually explicit or offensive language or conduct, making obscene gestures, using profanity, displaying sexual images in public spaces, or making racial, religious, or ethnic slurs.
  • Initiating inappropriate physical contact.
  • Engaging in harassing photography or recording.
  • Intimidating, stalking, or following others.
  • Failing to wear clothing suitable for a work environment, or wearing clothing that is provocative, inappropriate, or offensive.
  • Becoming excessively intoxicated at the event.
  • Making unwelcome sexual advances or providing unwelcome sexual attention.
  • Failing to comply with the COVID-19 Safety Acknowledgement, which was acknowledged and agreed upon during registration for the Conference.
  • Destroying or vandalizing personal property, the event site, or materials.
  • Smoking in areas that are not designated as smoking areas.
  • Possessing open containers of alcoholic beverages outside of designated areas.
  • Possessing illegal substances.
  • Failing to comply with any of the rules or regulations of the event venue or Best of Bangladesh event staff instructions.
  • Making offensive verbal comments related to gender, gender identity or expression, age, sexual orientation, disability, physical appearance, body size, race, ethnicity, nationality, native language, religion (or lack thereof), technology choices, life experiences, or other defining characteristics.
  • Disrupting talks or other events in a sustained manner.

Expected Behavior

  • Please be respectful and considerate of others at the event, and avoid any behavior that could be considered unacceptable. This includes refraining from discriminatory or inappropriate behavior and speech, as outlined in the list above.

  • We ask that you remain aware of your surroundings and the people around you while attending the event. If you or someone else is in distress or you notice a dangerous situation, please notify a member of the event staff immediately.

Reporting

Your safety and comfort are important to us. If someone’s behavior makes you or anyone else feel unsafe or unwelcome, please report it to a member of our event staff right away. You can find event staff at the registration or information desk. In case of a life-threatening emergency, please dial 112 to contact local authorities.

We want everyone at our event to feel valued and safe. Any harassment or Code of Conduct violations can negatively impact the event’s environment for everyone. If you witness such behavior, you can report it anonymously or personally.

If you feel comfortable, we encourage you to let the person know that their behavior is inappropriate and request that they stop. The person should immediately stop and correct the behavior. However, if the behavior persists or you don’t feel comfortable speaking up, please report it to a member of the event staff.

Your safety and comfort are our top priorities. If you need to make a personal report, our staff will take steps to ensure your privacy and safety. We may involve other event staff to ensure that your report is handled appropriately. You’ll have the opportunity to share what happened with us in a safe and supportive environment. We understand that this may be a difficult and upsetting experience, but we’ll do our best to handle it with care and respect.

If you prefer, you can bring someone with you for support while you make the report. We won’t ask you to confront anyone, and we’ll keep your identity confidential. The offending individual and anyone else won’t be informed of your identity.

Our team will be happy to help you: 

  • Contact hotel or venue security, local law enforcement, or local support services
  • Provide escorts, or otherwise assist you to feel safe for the duration of the event

Sponsor and Best of Bangladesh
Obligations

Sponsors are also subject to this Code of Conduct. In particular, sponsors should not use sexualized images, activities, or other material. 

Best of Bangladesh event organizers should not use sexualized clothing/uniforms/costumes, or otherwise create a sexualized environment.

Enforcement

Our event organizers take reports of harassing behavior and Code of Conduct violations very seriously. If someone asks you to stop engaging in such behavior, you must stop immediately. Failure to comply with this request may result in disciplinary action, including expulsion from the event and involvement of law enforcement.

Event organizers have the discretion to take any action they deem appropriate to address violations of the Code of Conduct, including but not limited to providing a warning to the offender, expelling the offender from the event without prior warning, and involving local law enforcement if necessary. We expect all participants to comply with our Code of Conduct and to help us maintain a safe and respectful environment for everyone involved.
