TUESDAY, SEPTEMBER 5, AT 02:30 PM – 03:10 PM
The RMG sector in Bangladesh has made notable progress in terms of becoming circular and sustainable. The industry has embraced a myriad of initiatives for resource efficiency, waste reduction, and recycling. Yet there is much left to be done.
While Bangladesh tackles the issue of being in a vulnerable climate position, there is a pressing need for greater efforts, collaboration among local and foreign stakeholders, and a strategic vision. While the apparel and textile sectors focus on transitioning to clean energy sources, improving energy efficiency, and promoting sustainable solutions, it is time for a call to action. International collaborations can bring expertise, technologies, necessary resources, and financial support to implement sustainable development projects.
This session intends to focus on how knowledge-sharing and capacity-building initiatives can enable mutual learning, foster sustainable practices throughout Bangladesh’s RMG supply chain, and bring greater value to not only the sector but also the buyers and stakeholders who want value-added sustainable products.
